Meet your Hosts

Tarabino Inn is owned and operated by Jeanne Butler, who is lovingly restoring and reimagining Tarabino Inn, a historic 1907 Victorian home, as a welcoming boutique bed & breakfast inn. Assisting Jeanne is her friend and co-host, Dora, who helps ensure guests enjoy a comfortable and memorable stay.

Jeanne Butler

At the heart of Tarabino Inn is the new owner, Jeanne Butler — a lifelong lover of history, architecture, travel, and the stories that connect people to place.

Born and raised in nearby Pueblo, Jeanne left Colorado after college and built a dynamic life that carried her across the United States, throughout Europe, and around the world. Her career spanned both academia and business, where curiosity, learning, and human connection were always at the center of her work.

Wherever she traveled, Jeanne was drawn to historic architecture and the character of old homes — especially Victorian houses rich with craftsmanship and stories. Over the years, she restored and furnished several historic properties, developing a deep appreciation for preserving the beauty and spirit of the past while creating warm, welcoming spaces.

Jeanne was married for twenty-seven years to Dr. Richard Miller, a respected scholar and educator whose love of books, ideas, and learning continues to inspire the inn today. The inn’s library is named in his honor. She is also the proud stepmother of one son and grandmother of two grown grandsons.

When Jeanne discovered Trinidad, she immediately fell in love with its remarkable history, vibrant architecture, and especially its friendly and welcoming people. Jeanne learned about the extraordinary women who helped shape Trinidad in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries from her friend and colleague, Dora Silver. Inspired by their legacies, Jeanne renamed and personalized the inn’s suites to honor them.

Jeanne became the steward of Tarabino Inn in April 2026. She sees the inn not simply as a business, but as both a privilege and a responsibility — an opportunity to restore and preserve an important part of Trinidad’s history while sharing its beauty, warmth, and stories with guests from around the world.

Whether you arrive as a history lover, architecture enthusiast, traveler, or simply someone seeking rest and connection, Jeanne hopes your time at the Tarabino Inn feels personal, memorable, and welcoming — like staying in the home of an old friend.

Dora Silver

Guests at the Tarabino Inn will also get to know Dora Silver, whose warmth, local knowledge, and love for Trinidad help make every stay more personal and memorable.

A longtime Trinidad resident, Dora knows the city inside and out — its history, hidden treasures, favorite gathering places, and the people who give the community its character. Whether you are looking for the best local restaurants, museums, galleries, shopping, scenic drives, hiking trails, or outdoor adventures, Dora is always happy to share recommendations and help guests make the most of their visit.

From local events and historic sites to the small details only a longtime resident would know, Dora’s guidance helps visitors experience Trinidad not just as tourists, but as welcomed guests in a remarkable community.

10/10 Review on Expedia (May 2026)

“The management is shifting currently, but it is definitely off to a great start! The property is beautiful with glorious woodwork and original light fixtures throughout. Clawfoot tubs and the most luxurious towels will have your muscles wobbling after a great evening perusing Main Street. The host is charming and efficient as she works to shuffle and prep the place she so obviously loves. The breakfast (quiche, fruit, muffins, and mimosas!) was excellent and the company so good that we lingered more than an hour! It was an absolutely wonderful stay, and I cannot wait to visit again and see what she does with this impressive property!”
